SUMMARY:NARGS Seed Exchange Packaging
DESCRIPTION:\nNARGS Seed Packaging Session\nQuotation from Ralph Waldo Emer
son*\n“I am present at the sowing of the seed of the world.\nWith a geom
etry of sunbeams\, the soul lays the foundations of nature”\nBy Panayoti
Kelaidis\n\nI am not sure if we can promise that your soul will be laying
any foundations if you join us in January for the second [and I assure yo
u the LAST] edition of “Rocky Mountain Chapter fulfills the second phase
of the NARGS seed exchange”. What we CAN promise is that you will learn
a lot about seed\, about what gardeners around the world are interested i
n and that you’ll meet some other wonderful members of our chapter and h
ave a good time.\n\nThe NARGS seed exchange is one of a kind: there are ac
tually quite a few rock garden societies on the planet—from the Czech Re
public to New Zealand. Canada has TWO not including NARGS (which encompass
es most of Canada incidentally). The British Isles have several. All have
terrific seedlists—but NARGS is not only especially large in quantities
of seed\, it is INDEXED BY DONOR\,\n\n[caption id="attachment_17964" align
 ="alignright" width="300"] Seed Packaging Session[/caption]\n\nso you can
see who to thank when you obtain some treasure you’ve yearned for all yo
ur life! Or you can eventually let them know they sent you the wrong seed
(not everything is always perfect).\n\nI have personally sent in seed to N
ARGS for nearly a half century\, and this exchange has been the source of
some of the greatest treasures I’ve obtained over the years. I wrote a l
ong blog post once about this very subject you enjoy perusing. https://pra
 iriebreak.blogspot.com/2023/12/a-tale-of-seeds-and-wonderall-about.html\n\
nJust as in January of last year\, we will be housing the exchange in the
Evergreen Room B\, located on the second floor of the Marnie's Pavilion. M
arnie's Pavilion is located direct west of the DBG conservatory. Evergreen
Room B is right next to the entrance to the Horticulture Department offic
es.\n\nBecause the room is not huge\, we are limiting people working on th
e exchange to a maximum of 10 people at a time. Please book a no cost tick
et for a seat in any of the sessions below to reserve your space. You can
book more than one session if you wish to participate for a full day. If a
session is filled\, it will become unavailable. There are two sessions ea
 ch day that are either\n\n 9:00 - 12:30 pm\n 12:30 - 4:00 pm\n\nThank yo
u in advance for volunteering! I look forward to seeing you in January!\n\
