Snowy Range Botanical Car Tour
with minimal to easy hiking
The Snowy Range, west of Laramie, Wyoming is just far enough from the Front Range that weekend traffic is generally much less – and quite a few unusual flowers can be found that you won’t find in Colorado.

In order to do this trip, however, it is imperative to get an early start. Depending on weather and other variables, we should get back home before dark—but if you intend to come don’t plan other activities for the day, please.
And please consider carpooling. If you are willing to drive please be sure your car is gassed up the day before and let Panayoti know you are willing to do so: pediocactus@icloud.com. If you do NOT want to drive, also please let him know at that address: he will be able to gauge how many cars we can reduce to.
Denver Metro members please meet by 8:15am at Wagon Road Park and Ride (click on this link for map). Please park north of the Bus Kiosk. Wagon Road Park and Ride is one block west of I-25 on the south side of 120th Avenue. We will “condense” cars and hope to depart by 8:30. If you are riding with someone else, please consider paying $10 to help defray expenses.
All cars will be stopping at the CDOT Rest area and Colorado Welcome Center (click on

this link for map) (at Exit 268 then west on E Prospect Road) where Northerly Colorado [i.e. Fort Collins] members can join (click on lower map at right). We plan to be there around 10:00AM. Call 720-979-1927, Panayoti’s cell phone, if you have questions that morning (or at any other time).
Several stops are planned before and on the Snowy Range—culminating at Libby Flats Observation tower. And a few surprises as well…
Please bring water (a quart at least per person), a packed lunch for a picnic and a rain jacket (or poncho).
Do plan to join us: you won’t regret it!
